ABOUT THE SHOW

Reworked photographs, cyanotypes, and solar prints in LAPSE explore the unstable nature of memory, shaped by personal and temporal forces. Rather than presenting memory as a fixed record of what happened, this exhibition emphasizes fluidity—how recollection can be reshaped by time, denial, desire, embarrassment, and the simple nature of forgetting. What we misremember is as telling as what we preserve; what we change can feel as permanent as what we leave behind. LAPSE frames memory as a continual act of transformation, revised through retelling, reshaping, and the sometimes painful act of recall.

In collaboration, Zoey and Talia’s distinct and overlapping practices expand the life of once conventional image-making. Fabric is ripped, twisted, and overlaid on repeated imagery, colors bleed across torn canvas, once two-dimensional images gain material weight and free-flowing form. A fluid exchange of mediums reflects the formed and fleeting self—not in isolation, but through inherent differences of shared experience.
